My Kawarthas

The Kawartha Lakes is a beautiful region situated in Southeastern Ontario, Canada approximately 1.5 hours from the GTA.  The area consists of a chain of 14 lakes. They stretch across Peterborough and Victoria counties, just north and west of Peterborough and 30-70 miles (50-115 km) northeast of Toronto.

Many popular townships including Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls, Omemee, Sturgeon Point, Lindsay, Verulam, Woodville, and 10 other townships attract tourists, nature lovers, boaters, sports enthusiasts, anglers, hikers, and cottagers from all over.

The Kawarthas has always been a popular area to purchase a cottage, second or investment property, and even a primary residence. The region is spotted with beautiful scenery from dense luscious forests to many freshwater lakes. Many of these lakes are part of the Trent-Severn Waterway System which is 240 miles (386 km) long canal route. Connecting Lake Ontario at Trenton to Georgian Bay. Lake Huron, at Port Severn. Its scenic meandering route has been called “one of the finest interconnected systems of navigation in the world.”  It allows boaters to cruise the summer months through many small towns and stunning scenery. It is not uncommon to view beautiful yachts from Florida and USA.

Taking an adventurous hike in the woods, swimming at one of the many beaches, and canoeing across the peaceful lakes are just a few of the countless activities to do in the Kawarthas.

It is truly the place to appreciate one of Ontario's wonders.
